I am a Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund and a regular columnist for Writing Magazine. I am also the published author of a trilogy of novels, a couple of novellas and upwards of forty short stories,

Since 2014 I have run Creative Writing workshops on behalf of Pen to Print - an Arts Council funded project based in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham - teaching all aspects of novel writing - structure, description, dialogue, editing, how to get published, etc.

The most important thing I have learned since immersing myself in the world of writing these last few years, is becoming published requires the planets to be aligned and the gods of Serendipity and Good Fortune to be batting for you. It takes the right manuscript to fall onto the right desk of the right agent/editor, at precisely the right time. It also takes a lot of hard work and perseverance.
If you want your manuscript to fly with hope, it cannot be weighed down with spelling mistakes, plot holes, character inconsistencies, punctuation errors, etc. If your manuscript contains too many of these it may well fly with hope, but it will soon drop into that great ocean of slush piles out there, and you will probably never hear from it again. If you want to give your manuscript the best chance, it has to be of a publishable standard.
There are simply no ways around that.

My aim is for you to learn from my editing suggestions in the art of editing so you no longer have to pay someone like me in the future. Cutting my nose off - perhaps - but the world needs your voice and your writing needs to be of a publishable standard for that voice to be heard.
Editing services can be hugely expensive. I have looked at the rates recommended by the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders and, to me - in the times we live - they are out of reach for many.
